On Ignaz Goldziher’s election to the Arab Academy of Damascus

Abstract
Ignaz Goldziher was elected a member of the Arab Academy of Damascus shortly before his death in 1921. The paper presents Goldziher’s manifold connections to Damascus, the city, and its inhabitants, from his first arrival there in 1873, through the lifelong friendships he forged, until the writing of his letter to the Arab Academy of Damascus.
