The article provides a detailed evaluation of the activities of Philipp Speiser in Cairo between the years 1979 and 1990 and the work he carried out there in the field of preservation and conservation of architectural monuments. It touches upon in detail on the history of the Comité de conservation des monuments de l’art arabe, and the activities of Max Herz.
