Arab Theatre and Syrian Folk Culture: Comments on the Relationship Between Syrian Dramatic Art and the Present-Day Public

Abstract
The article presents the findings of a research conducted in Damascus in September 1987 during which the author conducted interviews with famous Syrian playwrights – Saʿdallāh Wannūs, Mamdūḥ ʿUdwān, ʿAlī ʿUqla ʿUrsān – who disclosed the reasons for the recent changes in their styles.
