Problems of Authorship in Classical Arabic Literature
A. B. Khalidov (Institute of Oriental Studies, St. Petersburg)
Abstract
Research into classical Arabic literature is inevitably connected with the identification of authors. This task is rendered difficult not only because of the great number of Arab authors throughout history, but also because there has been no unified designation of authors. This situation has been further complicated by the not clear differentiation of imitation or borrowing and the misappropriation (theft) of somebody else’s invention.
