El papel de la mujer en el proceso de configuración nacional: el caso egipcio

Abstract

This paper provides an analysis of the role of women in Egyptian society from the 1880s until 1952. It demonstrates that the Egyptian woman, throughout this entire period in which the country endured British presence and intervention in Egyptian affairs, never remained a passive bystander but always mobilized against colonialism in the manner and form that social circumstances allowed. At all times, sometimes less visibly than others, she demonstrated her patriotism, and her readiness to sacrifice for the national cause.
