Philosophical Commentaries and Popular Culture in Islam

Abstract
The article presents an analysis of philosophical commentaries written by three great figures of Islamic philosophy, al-Kindī, al-Fārābī, and Averroes. The analysis investigates to what degree these authors were aware of their respective audiences with regard to their understanding the philosophical issues treated in their commentaries.
