“Ilayka l-muštakā lā minka rabbī …”: The Young Goldziher at Work

The article provides an analysis of how the young Ignaz Goldziher (1850-1921) worked. To achieve this, the author presents four projects Goldziher was engaged in: the utilization of his copy of the Leiden manuscript of Ibn al-Ǧawẓī’s Kitāb al-quṣṣāṣ wa-l-muḏakkirīn; a curious aspect of his “Beiträge zur arabische Sprachwissenschaft”; his interest in Ǧalāl ad-Dīn as-Suyūṭī (d. 911/1505); and his endeavour to edit Ibn Sikkīt’s Kitāb al-alfāẓ together with at-Tibrīzī’s Tahḏīb.
