Convention and Reality in Modern Arabic Prose

Abstract

Modern Arabic prose is characterized not only by its expansion in geographical space but also by its ability for dynamic development and continual enrichment and renewal. In the modern Arabic novel, one may observe a complicated system of concatenations and inner correlations which embody the artistic integrity of the narration. The article sets out to explore these conventions in some selected representatives of modern Arabic prose.
