Des animaux parlants : modèles littéraires et contraintes idéologiques
Antonella Ghersetti (Università Ca’ Foscari, Venezia)
Abstract
The article takes into consideration ideological issues related to the presence of speaking animals in premodern Arabic literature, especially criticised by Islamic orthodoxy. Starting from Ibn al-Muqaffaʿ’s Kalīla wa-Dimna, the article also discusses Ibn Ẓafar’s Sulwān al-mutāʿ and Ibn ʿArabshāh’s Fākihat al-ḫulafāʾ, and delves into the way their authors justify the use of speaking animals in their works.
