Some Observations on Humour in Islamic Culture

This article wishes to emphasise the importance of humour in Islam through the stories of Ǧuḥā, a common hero in Mediterranean folklore. His anecdotes share various features, but the attention in the article is confined to the theme of the fight against the abuse of power and the relationship with the sacred.
